The winners

The Jury attributed the Best Film 2011 and the Best Cinematography Awards to All I can, directed by Dave Mossop and Eric Crosland –Sherpas Cinema. All Jury members agreed about the outstanding quality of the films in contest, but the strength of the skiing images –with riders such as JP Auclair, co-director of the film- and the creative vision of nature have most certainly made the difference.

The Spirit of Freeride Award has gone to Panik à Baffin, a female adventure directed by Fanny Gras. The public's choice was Chile with Quémasda..., a film by Nicolas Harasic, who came all the way from the Andes to St Lary for the Festival.

Pyrenean Pride
The Best Rider Award went to Xavier De Le Rue – for the 3rd time in the Festival’s history. This Is My Winter reminds us once again, that this local boy has definitely found his way on the big mountains of the world.
Saison, a film directed by Matthieu Pinaud, starring a crew of local riders, has taken the Best Pyrenean Film Award, new for this edition.

Jury and Films

The press conference of the International Free Ride Film Festival Saint-Lary Soulan, took place on Thursday, December 1st in Toulouse, at the club Room 157, followed by « La Nuit du Free Ride». Bruno Delaye, the Festival organiser, unveiled the names of the Jury members, as well as the selection of films in competition for the 2011 edition.

During 3 days, a selection of the latest ski and snowboard film productions will be presented to an international Jury, presided by pro skier Dimitri Charriere and made of personalities from the sports and media.

7th edition - from 8th to 10th

The 7th edition of the International Free Ride Film Festival will occur from 8th to 10th december, 2011, in Saint Salry (France), in Pyrénées mountains. During 3 days, a selection of the latest ski and snowboard film productions will be submitted to an international Jury composed of sports people, actors and journalists,...

Sun, freeride and "chuleta"

The cold, bluebird day in the Pyrenees made a little trip to the other side of the border very inviting for the jury of the International Free Ride Film Festival. The local tapas connoisseurs Bruno Compagnet (Honorable President of the Festival), Seb Gardies and Jean-Mi Gouadain (jury) made the rest of the jury members discover the Pineta valley, at the base of Mont Perdu. As it usually happens on a tour with a team of the kind, they all gathered around a good table to share a very Pyrenean moment, at Bruno Compagnet’s favourite “chuleta” spot!
The day’s program was intense and varied and “Nomads” from the Swiss Falquet brothers was one of the jury’s favourite. Another highlight was the long expected screening of “Deeper”, Jeremy Jone’s two-year long project, featuring also Travis Rice, and the local boy Xavier De Le Rue.

Exposure EDEN

Come to attend the exposure EDEN during the International Freeride Film Festival St Lary! (from December 9th to 11th 2010)
DENJOBROTHERS presents the road show to you " EDEN”, in collaboration with the 2 photographers Frederic EGLI and Didier SASTOURNE, as well as graphic illustrator BIZMUT. The universe of the mountain is the major topic of this exposure. The 3 artists reveal through their respective works their vision of snowboard, ski, lifestyle which is resulted from this, just like of the close relation all to wrinkle with ecological dimension towards Nature in general.

Jury 2010

Chris Southwell, English Pro Snowboard, will be in the Jury of this 6th edition.

"I started snowboarding 14 years ago and have never looked back. I started off skiing but in the early days snowboarding was not like it was now but once I tried it I was hooked. I am a freeride snowboarder so I am always looking for fresh powder and big cliffs to jump off. I have been based in Verbier for the past 7 seasons with my brother and we spend most of the days filming, training and doing photo shoots. We both also compete on the freeride world tour which is a very exciting and fun event circuit to be involved in. My best results are 3rd at the Scandinavian Big Mountain Championships and 2nd at the Czech Scott Ride. Being the only British athletes on the tour can be hard work but we are flying the flag high for our sponsors and getting some great results along the way. My film credits include: Wintermission, The Journal, Show Offs, Allian – 10 years and Ski City. I have also appeared on many occasions on television interview for Sky Sports, Extreme Sports Channel, ITV and the BBC.

I have been with Dare 2B for 1 season and I have never been happier. They have a great range of kit for all conditions which is so important for our style of riding. I mainly use the freeride and freestyle range and I have been so impressed with what they offer. Next year the kit is looking even better and I cant wait to get out on the slopes in it. For me riding for a company is not all about the kit, they are also sponsoring some of the best events in the alps and its exciting for us to get involved. Bring on the snow and look out for us next season on the slopes some where in Europe wearing the Dare 2 B range."

Awards 2009 : and the winner

C’est dans une ambiance festive et conviviale que s’est clôturée samedi 12 décembre 2009 la 5ème édition de l’International Free Ride Film Festival de Saint-Lary-Soulan.
Suite à des délibérations qui ont duré plus d’une heure, nos jurés sont tant bien que mal tombés d’accord sur un palmarès à l’issue de débats agités mais toujours passionnés :
